- 5/5 from Matthew Bartlett, attended Jun 2025: Outstanding Workshop Chika’s kokedama class was exceptional. The small group size meant genuine hands-on instruction throughout. No crowded workspace or waiting for help. Chika demonstrated each technique clearly and was right there to guide us through tricky parts like achieving the right moss consistency and shaping. The intimate setting made all the difference. Everyone received individual attention and left with professionally finished kokedama. This was proper instruction from someone who truly knows the craft. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn kokedama correctly rather than just wing it.
- 5/5 from Amy Laidler, attended Jun 2025: My sister gifted me this class as I’d wanted to learn how to do Kokedama. Chika was a great teacher, she was friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable and provided refreshments. We learnt about the origins of kokedama, made our own kokedama after a demo from Chika and how those skills could be applied to other plants and environments and various ways to display them. The venue was nicely set up with many examples of kokedama around the space, with all materials provided, it was also very clean, organised and comfortable. I loved seeing the beautiful examples of kokedama Chika had and learning the history of the craft.

I'm Chika, a plant-loving Japanese creator based in Auckland. Merging my two passions for crafts and plants from my childhood, I have been making and offering various botanical-themed items for everyone, hoping my creations bring happiness and joy to people's everyday lives. From the experience of sharing my knowledge and skills at a local Japanese craft community group that I founded with my crafty friend in 2012, I have found that it is such a wonderful way to connect with people and have been enjoying teaching open and private workshops since then. The Kokedama workshop is one of our most popular classes, and we have held it for various occasions such as birthday parties, hens parties, school holiday programs for kids, and monthly craft markets.
