2 hours

Class size 1 to 8 (public classes), 6 to 10
  $175

After several sold out workshops around NZ, here is the next few sessions for 2026!
Learn the magical art of Kintsugi with artist Ema Frost in this new workshop.
Have you ever wanted to try Kintsugi? It's an ancient Japanese art form where you fix broken pottery with gold, making its imperfections its beauty. Nothing is ever really broken but new life and meaning are brought back, making your piece a work of art and truly something special.
The traditional Japanese art uses a precious metal – liquid gold, liquid silver or lacquer dusted with powdered gold or silver – to bring together the pieces of a broken pottery item and at the same time enhance the breaks. In this class we will be using contemporary materials so you can experience and understand the new and old techniques.
This class is not just for budding or accomplished artists. It is for everyone to enjoy a relaxing day of art and design with Ema.
By the end of the class, you will take away your wonderful finished work, plus your new skills which will enable you to further your own Kintsugi in your own time.
Cancellation policy: All workshops are non-refundable. We can offer you a workshop swap if we have at least 7 days' notice prior to the original workshop date, subject to availability.

I initially wanted to learn Kintsugi simply because I thought it was beautiful, but it turned out to be so much more than that. I really enjoyed learning about the culture, having a hands-on experience, and even being able to take a kit home with me. And getting to pet the adorable Tokyo was the cherry on top — honestly, my satisfaction level was 120%! If anyone keen, highly highly recommend!!
